    Sadly shortly afterwords I noticed a large crack in the SKS stock. Time to look into a new one. I was hoping the stock would last, being a relic and family heirloom from Vietnam.

    You might well be able to fix the stock. I have a cracked stocked shotgun that I've inherited that has been fixed.
