^ Well, it sounds like he's got a chip on his shoulder. Wonder how it got there. I won't deny it though, I don't have much sympathy with all the recent talk about how how hard put upon Christians are these days; they've been dishing it out for centuries, and now they're whining because they're finally getting a little blowback.

The only things that Savage advocates in his columns are tolerance, good *** and a an open mind.
Leviticus and Deuteronomy are the two most awesome pieces of literature ever committed to papyrus in the history of Man.

Hey, I'm not saying that religiously-excused bullying doesn't occur or that he didn't suffer from it when he was younger. I have personally seen such things occur, and worse, observing peers practically condone the actions "Oh that's too bad that s/he is bullied, but he did have it coming as he is a sodomite".

It still doesn't excuse Savage's actions. You don't paint everybody with the same brush, especially when doing so completely undermines your message. And you especially don't .
If anything, he makes it seem that we wants some monopoly on bullied victims, and that gay kids are the only ones who get bullied. What about the quiet Christian kid that gets teased and bullied for being a "prude"?

    And seriously:

That kind of mentality gets us nowhere...
Under that principle I should put down every French, English, Japanese, and Chinese person I meet, even if he is a toddler, just because of historical victimhood. Maybe I can throw in some general "whitey bad" rants along with that.

I've been reading Savage's column pretty regularly for about 3 years, its usually on the last page of one of the free newspapers in town. Maybe to my discredit, i actually recognized Santorum as a *** term before i realized there was a dude named Rick Santorum.

I enjoy the column, but mostly because of the funny *** questions people write in. I also respect and appreciate Savage's "It Gets Better" program, although hes is being pretty douchy here.

He hates the religious right with a fiery passion and that's totally understandable. However such reactions kinda undermines his message I agree. Still, you invite a guy with such fierce convictions you know what you're getting imho.

The difference is, and always will be, hating someone for how they are born, the things they have no control over, versus hating people for the actions they choose. One deserves everything they get for subscribing to ignorant, bigoted philosophies that institutionalize hate toward someone else's natural state.

To be fair if you see the video in the article, they walk out the moment he says "we can learn to ignore the bull**** in the bible about gays, the same way we learned to ignore the bull**** in the bible about shellfish, about slavery" etc etc. Which is not wrong, is it? Are these facts so offensive? Journalist students should be able to tolerate a bit more maybe, even about their religion.

The name calling is still counter productive though.

he seemed hostile in "christian bit" and thats why student left , when people read the bible they dont automatically become homophobes lol those are just some random quotes which savage wanted to use his "point" plus most christians dont read the bible literally so i dont know what he was trying to prove ,the only groups who use those quotes are those anti-gay christian groups who also want to prove a "point"

How is he any different from any other hate monger who broadly generalizes based on their personal experiences? Why are we supposed to tolerate gay, left wing hate mongers? I'd say this guy's hate is pretty well reflected in the main stream media and Hollywood. Just ask yourself, would this guy ever be allowed to write another column if his rants were focused on Muslims?

Actually, Ann Coulter wrote a pretty good piece on this recently:

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...llywood-317007
Americans love movies and would like to love Hollywood, but I suspect they are getting a little sick of Hollywood hating them.By "them," I mean:
► Southerners (as portrayed in A Time to Kill, Deliverance, Easy Rider, Talladega Nights, Pulp Fiction, Raising Arizona andLaw & Order)
► Residents of small towns, except the Hamptons and Malibu (Footloose, The Last Seduction, Pleasantville and Law & Order)
► Christians (The Virgin Suicides, Easy A,Seven, Straw Dogs, Carrie and Law & Order)
► Connecticut WASPs or their equivalent (Ordinary People,Far From Heaven, Caddyshack, Trading Places, The Ice Storm, every single movie on "Lifetime: TV for Women" and Law & Order)
► Priests (Primal Fear, Stigmata, Priest, Godfather III andLaw & Order)
► Conservative politicians (The Contender, Good Night, and Good Luck, The West Wing, any movie by Oliver Stone and Law & Order)
► The rich -- but never rich trial lawyers, rich environmentalists, rich educators or rich-off-the-taxpayer politicians (Titanic, Sleeping With the Enemy, Wall Street andLaw & Order)
► Businessmen (Erin Brockovich, A Civil Action, The Insider,Silkwood, Michael Clayton, every John Grisham adaptation, even The Muppets, where they reunite to save their old theater from a greedy oil tycoon! And Law & Order).
By the way, I'm not a Christian or religious at all. I just see that they've become the latest accepted target of bigotry.

You realize this is totally subjective and can be used to argue for either side? It's just rationalization for hate. Nothing more.

Huh? No, left wing hate monger for inciting hatred against a group of people he doesn't like. But I'm not at all surprised you're trotting out red herrings. There is nothing wrong with tolerances for gays, but you don't do that by generating hatred for other groups. It might come as a surprise to you, since the left's strategy has been hatred and intolerance for those they disagree with.

    Then you quote Ann Coulter?
Yeah, I think she makes a great point in the article. Can you refute any of it?

I'm not support that Savage guy tactics, I never heard of him till this thread. It's always a certain group that says you are a liberal hate monger for saying you should tolerate someones lifestyle when it is not affecting or hurting anyone in any way.

Ann Coulter is as big a hate monger out there. Hiding behind the name of Christianity. You should research her before using her to try and prove your point.

So how many accounts do you have now Wimbley?

Dan Savage also deliberately tried to infect a presidential candidate with the flu and has been convicted of voter fraud.

    Such a upstanding citizen...
