I'm not soldier, but isn't it safe to say that any soldier who have seen combat over a period of time (say, year long deployment) is already somewhat mentally wounded? just curious, what's their criteria to determine mental injury?
I never paid for my skill badges nor did any money change hands when I got them for my soldiers. However, I have heard of units raising money for parties through charging a small sum for "consumables" that are actually provided for free
But yeah, the ribbon bars are not provided with the medals, which is kinda cheap![]()
You have to be very sick.. bad dreams isn't enough. Everybody that recieved that medal that day has pretty much been through hell.. Me included. And you have to go through several excaminations before you can get that compensation and medal. I've been fighting my PTSD and personality change for more than 8 years.. lost so much. And the medical journal contains more than 800 pages..
Edit: Have to correct myself.. That journal isn't just medical. It also contains reports from social workers from our municipality.. and others maybe? Havn't read it myself.. Maybe I will someday. I didn't ask for any of this..

You're welcome.
one-niner - thank you for the thread and pics.
Dane - Know you are just in the middle of this fight with a long ways to go. Be strong ....we will go with you. If you see some of the others again, tell them we saw them here ... and we will go with them also.
The Nijmegen and Dancon March medal are actually not allowed at such ceromonies.. Some wore them anyway, and the Royal Guard Captain that commanded us didn't say anything. Angered me a bit.. but, I would probably have worn mine, if it happened a couple of years ago. Hard to explain.. but memory and concentration can completely go down the drain sometimes. And the captain plus the Chief of Defense was clearly aware of our handicaps.. Very special military parade.. and historical I guess.
