Default Christie: Romney might be able to 'convince' me to be running mate

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012...-running-mate/

"New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that Mitt Romney might be able to "convince" him to be his running mate -- the first time the governor has appeared to open up to the idea in public.

The brash Garden State governor repeatedly has played down the idea of being the Republican vice presidential nominee, saying he's not interested in being anyone else's No. 2. That's just not his style, he argues.

But speaking to a group of high school students in western New Jersey on Monday, he took the question and said this:

"He might be able to convince me. He's a convincing guy, but I really love this job. I really want to stay in this job.""

Shouldnt do it. He should at least finish his first term as governor before opting to run for higher office. He leaves himself open to the Dems for "Quitting" otherwise (besides the fat jokes that they already do). At least then he can run on a complete record good or bad.

Not sure how much the "quitter" title would stick given that Obama basically quit his position to run for President. Actually, you could probably turn it around to his advantage. "He didn't do a half-assed job at his old job because he was spending all his time running for President like Barak "Present" Obama. He did the right thing and stepped down to let another carry that torch." Or something like that. Yeah, liberals (and assholes in general, but I repeat myself ) love to pick on fat people. They can't be racists anymore, and bigotry is getting a bad rap too, but fat people? Open season.

Yep. And that's fine by me. Christie is a big fat ass. He is greedy and does not know when to push away from the buffet table. The GOP could screw up yet again and run a big fat white guy in a bad economy. I hope they are not that stupid. I don't consider myself a Democrat. He's just a big fat jerk and running him would be stupid. Chicks don't vote for big fat white guys. Get the memo, GOP.

Don't sugar coat it, tell us how you really feel. Do you think weight determines competence?

Obviously it doesn't. But, when you add that to a personality that is perceived by some to be a greedy jerk it certainly will not help. He's a bad pick anyways and for good reasons aside from having an undying love affair with jelly donuts.

Heard any good Michael Moore fat jokes lately?

Christie would be a much stronger candidate than Romney is. He ought to just wait and run on his own someday.

He wouldn't be my first choice but IMO dinging him for his weight is just as stupid as those who ding Barry for his skin color or Romney for his religion.

Even weight loss couldn't help Moore. He'd still be a POS. (And good point BTW LOL)

I think so as well. But, it's easy for the undisciplined to point out negatives like that when they have legit negatives to begin with. Human nature I guess...on the kindergarten level.

Look, I'm only half serious. Image is a lot, like it or not. You can't run a fat white guy right now and win. It used to be that a VP would be the guy who goes to funerals and reps the US in that diplomatic, state role much like a European president position versus that of a prime minister. George Bush senior was an excellent VP under Reagan: he knew all of the players and knew protocols and how to act. Dan Quayle was a poor choice. Al Gore was a good choice. Jack Kemp was a good choice. Cheney was a good choice. Edwards was a bad choice. Palin was a bad choice. Biden was a bad choice. So they're keeping with another possibly bad choice for VP - a blustery fat guy. If he turns out to be like Teddy Roosevelt big, then God bless his soul and he can have my vote. If he turns out to be graft-ridden Taft kind of fat, fuck him in the ear. I think the GOP should have realized by now this is potentially the wrong man at the wrong time, unless they feel they need an eastern candidate right now for demographic reasons.

Not sure how I feel about him one way or another. The media portrays him as a no-nonsense, get-$hit-done, type of guy but is that the real Christie or just the managed image? I want someone who's not afraid to tell special interests to FOAD and puts the country (not the people) first. Not sure who that would be at this point.
