Matter of perception. I would actually wager than without the absolute brilliance of Özil in offensive re-conversion, Schweinsteiger would stand out as very mono-dimensional.

Look at Goal 1 from Germany. Müller does all the damn work on the diagonal run. Off course the freaking Flatlined Dutch defense (huhu) is bollocks, but you see how efficient and damn good THESE Germans are.

Goal 2 is damn scary on how easy Fussball is. Long ball, Müller taps it to Gomez who leaves it to Özil. Özil passes to Schweinsteiger that relays to Gomez fvcking A. 2-0 game over.

I do not see what football you lot are watching but if anything that is absolute world class.
What was the Goalkeeper doing in that 2nd goal? Gomez should never have scored on him like that.

Following a succession of passes around a non-existant Dutch defense, the ball once more found Gomez.

Absolute world class does not mirror my sentiments. Matter of fact, that is strongly overstated.
Matter of fact...you have to be kidding me.

1st goal ... Neuer sends that ball to goal.
2nd goal the German right flank does the fvcking job. (see the 2nd goal in NED-GER)
    3rd goal Counter-attack.
    4th goal Same.

If anything this team is exactly the same that the SAF one. FFS Stekelenburg pulls a David James on the second goal. Sorry if the other teams in the competition don't play as shody defense as England and C° or do have DVD recorders at home.

1 goal so far and it's just the beginning, pal.

Set the bar high for next Eurocup.

    It was a fine goal.

The next Eurocup is in four years. In that time most of your team will have died of shame.

A fine example, to be sure. Using the same tactics as two years ago equals absolute world class football.

Poland attacked the right flank of Greece, absolute world class football.

Russia attacked the right flank of the Czech Republic, absolute world class football.

Italy attacked the flanks of Spain, to stretch the defense and prevent Spain from controlling the match with ball possession. Absolute world class football.

Is there any team which doesn't attack the flank every now and then?

    Remember this?

Same tournament. And these highlights far from depict how bad the German team was on that day.

    Oï the trolling match begins...

Execution is the key word. But I am sure you don't care about that.

Now Poland attacked Greece on its LEFT and managed to sneak one and that was all. Before being saved by the goalkeeper.

    Italy what?

Is there any team that plays the same game as two years ago and that is labelled in "hibernation" while having basically the same result? Please tell me.

What's the difference what flank was attacked? Flanking attacks. So what?

Italy played a strong game against a possession dominant team. They did a good job. Spain was actually lucky to manage that draw given the resolute defense by which they were challenged.

You're referring to tactics. I'm referring to the quality of German football when compared to their accomplishments in 2010. They look slower. Still well balanced and collected, just not as explosive. And yes, the results are favourable. Never argued that.

In 2010 Germany lost against Serbia in the third game ! My guess is that we will not loose to Denmark on Sunday, but gain more pace and security overall. The first 3 games are always kind of sloppy, but thistime It was not easy against Portugal and Holland. They are not "football dwarfs" but teams that can always score, and that is the difference. Germany is a team that developes through a tournament. Don' be so impatient. The overall team is also quite young, besides grandpa Klose.

    I'm with Kote on this.
Despite looking absolutely effortless and possibly even simplistic, the route to both goals were masterful.

The Germans played a very intelligent game- taking on Dutch defenders in one-on-one situations was the correct tactic-
Playing through the lines the way the Germans did is actually harder than it looks especially in the first half.
I felt that the Germans had certain automatisms down-pat. They showed how efficient 'simplicity' is because they have the talent to pull it off.

I did feel that Ozil was lacking a little sharpness and you can see that playing in Spain with Real has rubbed off on him in other regards.
As to looking slower, etc. there was a question of heat and you all have to remember that both teams had to travel from Poland to Ukraine and that can play a role. It didn't change the mastery of both goals, although Stekelenburg fucked up on the second one.

The second half is more where things were easier for Germany if you ask me.
As soon as the Germans would get the ball the Dutch weren't putting on the same pressing you saw in the first half and when they have the ball back the build-up is too slow because you saw again and again that people were not getting themselves into any position- many of them were just standing there.
Really pathetic. It just looked like they had given up.
The lack of depth was a disaster- the wingers didn't do what they really should be doing. Afellay was useless and Robben, although he did provide some danger,
    wasn't playing wide enough.

Italy never actually deprived Spain from possession (the last 20 minutes were absolutely rubbish) and had any one else been playing instead of Torres that would have been 3-1 at that moment of the game.

Germany was never dominant at any point in 2010. Scores tell a completely biased story.

As shown to you with England they were somewhat lucky the ref did not allowed the 2-2. They could proceed in counter.
Against Argentina, they open the score with an early FK and then for roughly a freaking hour they don't do anything relevant to winning their match (instead Argentina does by playing like wimps). Then counter strike, counter strike and ...counter strike. Where is this mighty German machine that ****faces anyone you folks have heard of? FFS they didn't managed to win against Serbia?

It is really absolutely bewildering than instead of looking the tape every one is ranting about how Germans were better in attack and ball possession. They never were (unless Australia is concerned which played in ten for a half-time).
