Nah, England is a team of destiny. They'll beat Italy.

I want them to get to the final (somehow) and face the Germans. It'll be the Blitz all over again.... and it'll be worth it just to see the headlines on the Sun.

We had technically advanced teams eliminated by counter footballers like Greece and vice versa, it is not like a certain playing style is sofar dominating the Euro.
The referee decisions have been fairly decent in my opinion... just think of the last World Cup. THAT was disasterous.

would be a good show down England vs Germany, your right Germany would demolish them.

Was rooting for Ukraine on this one, sorry lads. And the refs... while the discarded goal was after obvious offside it still shouldn't be a game where two screamingly obvious wrongs make one right.

    Here's to Kassai once more:

Actually I think they can only meet in the semis.

    QF1: Ronaldos and Czechs
    QF2: Krauts and Greeks
    QF3: Spanish and Frogs
    QF4: Whops and Limeys

    SF1: winners QF1 vs. whiners QF3
    SF2: winners QF2 vs. whiners QF4

Best semis would be Germany-England and Portugal-Spain.

Germany-Italy and Portugal-France aren't bad either, and who knows if Greece or the Czechs might decide to mix things up.

Czechia is more of German than Slavic. So that doesn't count.

In terms of the ref-teams performance it doesn't, but for the result of the match, two wrongs did make a right in this particular instance.

Too bad really, Kassai's ref-team has been one of the best in the tournament.

Absolutely, I would have been very disappointed if that goal would have counted and Ukraine despite their good game would have somehow "snuck" into playoffs undeservedly.

If we're going to go out, I'd like it to be against Germany, on penalties. Somehow feels more natural.

You never know. Germany usually demolish us, but once in a blue moon we pull something special out of the bag. It's what makes facing them so gripping.

For anyone interested, there have been five draws, twelve England wins and eleven Germany wins in the history between the two countries according to FIFA. Since 1996, we've alternated winners.

I'll take '90, '96 and 2010 over some friendlies and qualifiers. The humiliation of 2001? It was the campaign that had us ending up in the WC final 2002. Group game in 2000, England beats Germany, but neither England, nor Germany advance.

Somehow we collected the more important wins since 1966.

Define important. Here, beating Germany generally results in the same sort of national celebration we saw on VE day.

Knocking you out of a tournament vs. winning a friendly with players never to be seen again in the national team. (Pander scoring in the new Wembley... who cares)

Your country must be a really sad place then. Is there nothing else the English can be proud of lately?
