The pass was behind him. I'm sure with a better pass, the story would've been different.
Somebody should tell the Spanish that they are allowed to shoot at the goal, they don't have to pass the ball all the time.

Anyways, whomever plays Spain next now has a good idea on how to stop them, just do something similar to Portugal, defend up field as much as possible, and press hard. Spain does have a terrific defense, very hard to break.
Portugal may well still be third in this tournament. But i really doubt it. My money is on Italy.
Portugal can't be too despondent. Easy too say, but a team lacking in that much quality way over performed in being semi-finalists beaten only by a team that has won (a staggering) 50 from 59.

Good game by Portugal, they showed that you don't have to park the bus when you play against Spain.
Although their offensive play wasn't really all that.
Pepe and Bruno Alves is one hell of a CB-duo, hell for the opposing team.
Hard pressed Spaniards where not able to play through the middle as effectively as they ususally do, why not try something different? It's grotesque to see a corner played all the way back to Casillas at 0-0. Del Bosque seems so afraid of taking risks, and it nearly cost him today.
Portugal had no game plan aside from closing down spaces for Spain and hitting long balls to Cristiano. The only difference with them and England is that they had a bit more of the ball.
Hard to say, Portugal in 90 minutes time did exactly what one could have expected from such close nations. Keeping the Spaniards at bay and having a few chances. Too bad Ronaldo has no secrets for the Spanish side and is overly selfish.
I mean those three Freekicks he sends to the moon could have been played differently and that counter attack on the 89th should have been converted.
Overall Hugo Almeida was absolutely rubbish squandering at least three (half) chances.
On the brighter side, as said before the game, the Portugese defense was better than the offense, now my only hope to see Spain loosing, is an Italian victory in 90 minutes against Germany.
