I'll just not buy and curtail my shooting activities like the last time it happened. The hoarding is a real problem for casual shooters who just go plinking every now and then. If it gets too expensive and/or difficult we stop.

Presidential election years have turned into an equivalent of the runs on banks back in '29... but at the Big 5 and it needs to stop. The inconvenience is driving a lot of people away.

It would be nice if 2nd amendments groups, dealers, and enthusaists were a little more reasonable with the rhetoric rather than trying to scare everybody. Fact is that ATK isn't going anywhere so there is no need to buy 50 cases of GoldDot.

In 2009 after prices came down I invested quite a bit. I'm not going to provide numbers, but I'm comfortable with what I've got.

On the flip side, there's a Bill working its way through right now called the "National Carry Reciprocity Act of 2012" or something like that. It would require States to recognize carry permits from other States, the same way everyone recognizes a driver's license. I actually think the worst thing about it (from my understanding of the legislation) is that it wouldn't do anything to alter existing State laws, and as a result, yours truly (from TN) might in the future be able to legally carry my handgun in IL, CA, or NY, while residents of those States couldn't get carry permits issued locally.

Buying spare AR parts, at least one spare bolt per rifle. More Pmags, GIs and Glock 17 and 19 mags. At least 2000 more rounds of 55gr ball, 2000 rounds of 9mm, an ungodly amount of .22LR. Cleaning supplies, an Aimpoint PRO, and a new set of SAPIs.

I'm opening an online tactical store in a couple of months so I can capitalize on all that fear after you fools reelect Obama...that's what I'm doing.

Considering how well the gun industry has been doing with Obama as president compared to the previous presidents. I think, your post would make the other statement. "After all you brilliant and great Americans voted for Obama."

I have been scared a few times but nothing in the states have even come close.

I know, right? Maybe you poor folk could get an out of state permit from Utah (I have one from WA) and it would make things good to go. I've always seen the right to carry as a way for law abiding citizens to protect themselves, their families, their homes, and the places they work. I personally don't think that "laws" that prevent an individual from protecting him or herself are valid. Cops carry guns to protect themselves first, then citizens (common sense to me, when your job involves chasing down violent criminals). Thugs generally don't give two sh!ts about laws, which makes me always wonder what people like Feinstein are thinking. More legislation to control people who don't give two sh!ts about it? Ok... Also, her trying to stick a 9mm mag in an AK47. I wish to God I could find that video.

I wish I'd opened an online store a decade ago to sell hiking gear with "Cargo pants" called "Tactical Desert Assault Pants", polo shirts called "PSD Tactical Shirts" and hiking boots called "Low profile urban assault boots". I'd be retired now.

if it gets banned, do you get to keep what you already own, or why do you stockpile?

In American legal tradition, "Ban" applies to purchases or acquisitions made after the bill becomes law, not what you own prior to the bill becoming a law.

In layman's terms, (and in our tradition) one is legally allowed to stockpile civilian legal arms and ammunition if they aren't prohibited to do so by being some kind of felon (Laconian, please advise).

I don't know of any firearms or ammunition control law that has been made retroactive. In America, we aren't charged with crimes we might have committed before the law was made.

I don't doubt that. Though I'd have expected that they demand for people to turn in anything that is covered by a new ban within some timeframe and then make it illegal to have it after the time runs out.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Nope. In the States, our laws aren't back dated.

    I'm not a lawyer.
