So if that's the last raptor, what will replace it?

"5/2/2012 This F-22 Raptor to be delivered to the U.S. Air Force is number 195. The aircraft is the last of the F-22's to be produced and put into service by the U.S. Air Force. Production started in 1997 and ended in 2012."
That's it no mo' Raptors!
So if that's the last raptor, what will replace it?
I bet he can see my house....
P-51 Mustang:
built 15,000+, cost $50,985
F-86 Saber:
built 9,860, cost $219,000
F-4 Phantom:
built 5,195, cost $2.4m
F-15 Eagle:
built 1,798, cost $30m
F-22 Raptor:
built 195, cost $150m
A growing (exploding) defense budget does not mean a growing defense. In the real world 195 units would not justify the expense of R&D or the final price tag. But we are not talking about the real world, we are talking about DoD procurement. And what about the next generation fighter, and the next? $300m each for 50 planes? A billion each for five!?!
But my real concern is, can a 195 really do the job? I don't think so.
Okay, vent over.
Those sums are not corrected for inflation.
50.000 in 1940s US $ was a huge sum of money.
In 2012 dollars:
P51 - 661,257.87
F-86 -1,976,886.72
F-4 - 17,359,384.62
F-15 - 39,841,210.59
with http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm
and I checked wikipedia prices and year.
I posted this on the wrong thread....
