When they said 'Main' campaign would be Russian... would they actually leave out the other theatres of war and factions?
I thought that this might interest some people here
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...announced.aspx- 2013 release
- Main campaign is Eastern front, playing as Russians
- Lots of snow. Snow slows down troops and tanks, but can also form cover.
- Units can vault over cover such as low walls.

Russians....Come on....booo doesent get my $$ Everything is about Russians these days give it a break! Ill consider it if you can play as the Pom faction on MP.
Those were like modern Russians.
These are old school Soviet Russians on the Eastern Front fighting the Ostheer.
Thats awesome. But i would not want them to sweep aside the other factions.
When this games done, ppl will be clamouring for a Pacific campaign, mark my words.
The Korean War, Vietnam, Arab-Israeli Conflict, etc. would have been nice. The European Theatre has been done to death by the Close Combat series and others.
Overestimated? Major combat operations against the Germans were on the eastern front, where German losses amounted to 80% for the entire period of the war! "Irreversible loss of the armies of the Soviet Union and Germany, with satellites (including prisoners) - 11.5 million and 8.6 million." I think these statistics give an idea where the main battles were World War II!
As opposed to a Pacific Campaign with yet again 95% chance you will once again take up the boots of an American Soldier or Brit?
pretty much...
That said many Campaigns and games are using Russia increasingly now Battlefield 3 and CoD 3 both had a Russian Playable Character and pretty much every WW2 Game now allows for it.....
For a fresh approach on the WW2 Genre though, I would say...... Indian and Commonwealth Forces fighting the Japanese in the Pacific.... Relatively different, and japanese Kamikaze attacks pretty much compensate for poor AI in both Shooters and Strategy Games
Yup, well im just saying if you want to play Russian themed games go play Armed Assault, OFP, lots of Battlefront games that focus on the Russians. Even Men of War! Think you would enjoy thatDeep down I wouldnt mind seeing slouch hats, bren guns, Matildas and much more fending off bonzai attacks!
DasVivo: I would rather play as a Brit in COH just because its as close as I would getting feeling Aussie enough in COH universe![]()
What the hell? Seriously.
Why bother with Eastern Front if you are just going to rehash some Perestroika story from Ogoniok?
Guess you didn't watch some of the finest Perestroika TV, comrade. As a man who had stacks of Ogoniok magazine in my dacha( we used it as a fuel for a stove) I can already deduce a plot of this thing.
The protagonist is a former idealistic but levelheaded RKKA officer who disobeyed a suicidal/impossible/criminal order from a drunk NKVD guy and thus was transfered to a penal batallion where he won Stalingrad by himself together with local political prisoners( while on the run from NKVD after freeing them from GULAG). His parents( both Civil War veterans and Lenin's close friends) are shot for having an Orthodox cross buried in their dacha's garden by the same NKVD officer( who also planted the cross on Stalins orders). Who then raped protagonists teenage sister together with Beria. The protagonist surrenders to an American embassy and offers his services as a spy. He reunites with his sister( who was smuggled out of SU by fleeing Jewish musician in a string bass case) in New York and opens a tea-shop. NKVD guy turns out to be a tortured soul who was forced to do all this by Stalin himself, he deserts and goes to New York. By chance he enters protagonists tea-shop and commits suicide after seeing his victims. The last shot is a five minute static image of a puddle of mud that represents something.
Try Child 44 and sequels by Tom Rob Smith, you will love it
and soviets/russians are overused in nowdays game industry, I am waiting for Finns or Japans to take over. It would be nice if they at least leave obligatory Moscow-Stalingrad-Kursk-Berlin approach and included some less known battles.
