Really read the program. Just because someone wants to reform something it doesnt mean that he wants to abolish it.

Pirates, at least for me, are unelectable. They are a mere mean to protest but don't hold any great perspective of staying around for all too long I'd guess.

Still, I'll have to make my mind up where my vote will go next sunday. Certainly won't be neither SPD/Linke(SED )/Pirates.

If I understand this correctly these “pirate” parties usually stand for privacy issues, a subject that is quite important in these ever more tech connected times. They also drive questions regarding ownership issues and the public domain, something that always needs to be discussed. I personally don’t think that I could ever vote for these types of parties but I do recognize the need to bring these issues up for debate and thus I respect their presence I the process.

Wow last time the turnout was 73,6% and now its around 60,4%. Thats really horrible.

    SPD (Torsten Albig): 30 % | 30,3 %
    Alliance '90/The Greens (Robert Habeck): 13,3 % | 13,1 %
    FDP (Wolfgang Kubicki): 8,1 % | 8,2 %
    The Left/SED (Antje Jansen): 2,2 % | 2,3 %
    SSW (Anke Spoorendonk): 4,6 % | 4,5 %
    Pirate Party (Torge Schmidt): 8,4 % | 8,2 %
    Other minor parties: 2,5 % | 2,5 %

    @tyon

I reckon the turnout collapse is caused by the fact that the 2009 election came with a federal election.

Oh, is that so. You might take a look at their very own homepage and do read their program.

Also, don't forget that two minds may interpret a proposal in different ways. Where you read "reform" I reckon an euphemism for abolishment because that's what their reform is from my point of view. And from that they're a hedonistic-utilitarian party with reckless ideas and future-ignoring minds.

Actually I don't understand the SSW's - the Danish minority's party - self-chosen affiliation with the Left. The CDU has always been more open to the heritage of Germany's tradition-steeped minorities than the other parties were. Just look at the State of Saxony being governed by Sorbian-born Stanislaw Tillich.

At least in first past the post voting. Which we dont have. So yeah the CDU got most votes, doesnt mean that most people want them in power.

And look at that, they even debate that topic. You dont get that in most parties.
But you are right, they seem to be in favour of that. Then again it works in Hasselt. Why shouldnt it work elsewhere?

So because something is outdated it shouldnt be reformed. I get it.

But sorbians are catholic and slavs while danes are protestant and northern germanics.
All those northerners tend to be more "social" than the rest of europe.

Sorbs are not all catholic, many are protestant, but the vocal part is catholic.
And Saxony is a protestant state.

That'd only be a valid statement if coalitions ran for government. They don't.
What if I vote Red but don't want to get Red-Green? What if I vote Black-Green but what I actually get is Red-Green? What if parties who never announced cooperation join with each other only to get the power?
That's why it's been an unwritten law in the sixty-two years of German parliamentarism that the largest fraction is given the governmnent mandate.

Words won't explain that if you cannot already see it.

No, you don't. Because that's not what I've written or implied (nor did any of my other posts in this forum).

The connection you imply is debatable. Franconia is largely protestant and dominated by a conservative party nonetheless.
I meant the Greens, Pirates and Lefts are not really local-patriotic or particularly fond of traditional folklore. The recognised minorities and expellees from Prussia, Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia are traditionally intertwined with the Conservatives.
