Thanks, ClearBlues! I am a Friend of the Upper Post and love visiting Ft. Snelling. My Dad is resting at the cemetary eternally, and I love the fact that you see bald eagles, turkey, deer, fox and more wildlife there, even among the headstones. Plus its a history museum with MOH awardees and other interesting folk buried there.
I've seen some of those pics before, but much of it was new for me.
The horse barn featured in the old pics is now a Boy Scout Base Camp with climbing walls and a space shuttle simulator. Its pretty cool.
There is an active golf course and you can dine at the O Club too. My dogs love to run at the polo fields!
The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Minneapolis Police Department actively use the Fort and I've taken some of my university courses there.

I've passed by it many times, but I've never had the time to stop.

Neat stuff. I love hiking and shooting photos around there. One of the most famous pictures to come out of the area in recent years is this one taken at the cemetery (not by me).
