i noticed some interesting stuff being floated around the interwebs by obama supporters. It is a list of "50 things obama has done". The reason I bring that here is because:

    50. Killed the F-22: In 2009, ended further purchases of Lockheed Martin single-seat, twin-engine, fighter aircraft, which cost $358 million apiece. Though the military had 187 built, the plane has never flown a single combat mission. Eliminating it saved $4 billion.
misrepresentations and lies aside...I do wonder if this is the direction the OP is coming from

Some of these political talking points i see getting passed around are quite laughable. YES! we stopped production of the best fighter the world has ever seen! Hooray!

Really? Yea its got several wow factors but calling it the best fighter in the world when its never seen combat is laughable at best. Sounds like some of the aviators strapping this "Awesome" machine on are having doubts about it's safety as well.

Not only that, he didn't even do it. It's as asinine as if he'd took credit for the sun coming up simply because it happened on his watch.

You might want to ask F-15 and F-16 pilots if they share your expert assessment. (They don't.)

In a F-16 you risk getting shot to death.

In a F-22 you risk getting choked to death.

Oh, so I should take your comments to be fact since your a subject matter expert on the F-16? let alone the F-22? Why would I ask a Viper driver about an aircraft they haven't flown? It liking asking a Private pilot flying a Cessna what it's like to fly a heavy cargo aircraft. This of course is my opinion, however I do fly with several former fighter pilots that have come from the A-10, F-16, and F-15 Strike Eagles, they seem to think the money should go somewhere else. But hey, what do they know, apparently not as much as you.

"the best fighter in the world when its never seen combat is laughable at best." Go ask them how often they beat the F-22.

The F22 is a gold plated hanger hooker.

Don't besmirch the Eagle's name by comparing her to this overpriced defence industry whore. The Eagle is undefeated in battle and looks to remain so. The F22 hates itself so much it attempts suicide every 100th flight.

Simulated war games? I'm sure the F-22 can win in a controlled test environment. "Real" Combat and "Real" air defenses are a different ball game all together. I have no doubt it's an incredible machine but its not the be all end all aircraft out there. What use is an aircraft in a combat zone when you have to fear if the pilot is going to be conscious long enough to complete the mission? You defend this aircraft, why don't you try and side with the aviator that has to strap this thing on and realize there is a huge unknown safety problem with this aircraft.

Or simply that the plane is so expensive the USAF doesn't want to risk it in battle. And with only 187 planes you really have to worry about attrition. The USAF has truly fucked themselves raw with this program.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the Eagle has been around a lot longer than you've been paying attention. And it was derided as being "gold plated" exactly like you're doing. And the Eagle has been in service for 40 years. It didn't possess that combat record right out of the chute. Yes, a minor detail, but the particularly stupid people probably think it entered service with a 104-0 kill ratio.

Only because the F-22 is on our side and will fight the big boys (T-50/J-20) if necessary.

The F-15 wishes it was an F-22.
