Yeah brain fart on my part. Replace 'air' with 'battle' (space). The point was that much of tactical air is not in direct support of ground units (air interdiction, battlefield interdiction etc).

Of course this thread is really about strategic air...which is blowing the hell of civilian infrastructure hundreds of miles past the FEBA and pretending that it is of actual military value.
