True, immigration and taxation are not rights. However as with gay marriage they are part of the political world and can be voted for or against/repersented by a voted politician.

The foundation of all rights in general stems from the free will of an individual to live life as he or she deems fit without the meddling/interference of outsiders, i.e. non-family/relatives/close friends.
