It's not necessarily conservatives. There are those who are conservative who don't find it to be a big deal. Just as there are liberals who are uncomfortable with it. People with a strong belief in their god and their religion, tend to be more passionately against it, just as lefty nut jobs are passionate for it. The rest of us lie in a place of "sure, why not, they aren't hurting anyone by being married, let them."

But it's an easier case to promote to the average simple voter to NOT change the law. The old "why rock the boat" theory.

Not at all, just giving an example I knew you would rage at.

Nope. Don't twist my words. Go reread my post.

I merely stated that you all are so adamant about homo******s that the mere extension of marriage law protections to them will make all of you flabbergast yourself to death.

So you'll mock and belittle others for their beliefs while at the same time whining that they don't agree with yours? You sound like a real piece of work.

    .
My tolerance for other people's views end when their views restrict, condemn and impede on other people's lives, which religion tends to do pretty consistently. The Bible is very clear and very explicit about what the Hebrews thought about homo******s.

Religion was created to tame the masses. It has very little to do with God.

Most Black and Hispanic democrats are anti-gay rights so this isn't really a conservative issue when you break it down along non partisan lines.

    this is offtopic but,

yes, I have no problem belittling and criticizing beliefs that belittle and demean people based on how they are born. Why is this so hard to comprehend? Religion is not and should not be a sacred cow.

If you meet a person who tells you that he believes that Elvis is a son of God and that he isnt dead, you'd walk away from him and call him a kook, yet someone who sincerely believes that an Arab merchant named Muhammad flew into heaven on a winged horse sometime in 7th century, you are supposed to respect this belief and value his opinion. This is non-sense.

when I disagree with people who are economically on the Keynesian side, I dont tell them "accept my economic ideas or otherwise you are wrong", I merely point out what I see as errors and problems with their economic thinking. And this is ok and accepted in almost any realm of conversation and any subject. Yet when it comes to religious ideology - a set of ideas and beliefs, all bets are off. Pointing out logical and inherent inconsistencies in religious texts and dogma is still a taboo to a lot of people.

    Indeed. Social conservatism ≠ conservatism.

Tolerance is a two-way street. It's amazing how many can't wrap their brains around the concept.
