homophobia, like any phobia, is largely based on fear of the unknown. I made a point that most homophobia in 'conservatives' states is based on religious tradition, especially Christian tradition that is blatantly anti-gay, especially in its basic Scriptures. Calling everyone in NC who voted against this marriage bill 'closet homos' is stupid and inaccurate.
OK - all you Euro-f@gs have a nice day - I have a free world to save.
Because the government has intruded upon our private lives and restricted the privileges of a group/class of people (I don't buy that marriage is a "right"). Why should the government get to define what is, and what is not marriage? Since marriage is a religious institution, they should leave it to the churches. I'm sure there'll be a "church" that will marry gays...I'm pretty sure there's an Episcopalian church in Atlanta with a gay pastor.
But at the same time, it's entirely undemocratic for a tyranny of the minority to dictate laws.
Again... the people making the big government "argument" are liberals, not conservatives. If 2 gays want to declare themselves married and live together under the same law, taxation rate and other things that a man-woman married couple abides by, what right does the govt have in saying 'no' to this request?
What drives the pushback by 'conservatives' against gay marriage is religion, not any valid concerns for size of govt. Religious bigotry is why gays are denied basic rights that heteros 'enjoy' naturally.
So, how does not agreeing with something make you scared of it?
God Speed!
We won't know until Christian Conservatives get some T-54's in their inventory so I'm withholding judgement.
You're treading on dangerous waters my friend. If you're not careful you just might find your ass exiled to California, something neither of us want.
I always had a feeling Newt went both ways.
Anyone else think its weird that in North Carolina you can legally fvck/ marry your cousin on her 16th birthday, but its a big deal that homo******s don't get married?
