Surprised that this doen't get more attention on this forum, his photos were absolutely amasing, he managed to capture Hell on film.

No digital gear back then either. You really had to know your craft to get the quality of shots he got.

R.I.P.
His shots show not only considerable skill and eye (example being the contrasting images of the dappled forest and the helicopters), but immense courage. A true loss in the realm of photojournalism, but fortunate that he was able to see retirement.

RIP Mr.Faas and thank you for the courage and skill of your work.

In addition to his own photos, he worked hard to get some controversial work of peers published, including the iconic "girl in napalm" and "VC execution by police chief" photos.
