Default CEOs rate California dead last for business, again

"It was alarming the first three or four times California was ranked last among 50 states for business environment. Now, Chief Executive magazine's annual ranking, based on a survey of 650 chief executives on taxation, regulation, workforce quality and living environment, again places California dead last, 50th of 50 – for the eighth year in a row.

Eight years in a row ceases to be alarming. It now is a defining status."

Nothing to worry about. It's C.Puff's weekly article on "OMFG California is a liberal latrine."

At the end of my walk-street lives some young guys from Georgia. Their accents and "Georgia Tech" flags and stickers kind of gave it away. They're renting a beachfront home that is costing them at least $8k a month. That made me wonder. Turns out they have a small tech start-up in Venice and are working with or selling it to Yahoo.

My neighbor from New York started his own healthcare consulting business three years ago. His biggest account is now Cedars Sinai Hospital. His wife from Arizona has had a successful insurance practice for just as long.

Which leads me to this from the same publication in the OP.

Wyoming, for example, looks good on paper because it has extremely low business and personal tax rates. However, the state registered no increase in entrepreneurial activity last year over 2010, Kauffman data showed. Meanwhile, metro Los Angeles produced the highest rate of entrepreneurs in the country despite the egregiously anti-business policies of California; overall, the state still matched business-friendly Texas for the highest total rates of entrepreneurial activity last year. Cauldrons of entrepreneurial fervor, such as Silicon Valley, Austin and Boston remain great petri dishes for startups despite state-government policies that are basically unfriendly or hostile to small business. And yet less-obvious places, including Chattanooga, Chicago and Royal Oak, Michigan, can be welcoming, too.

Point being, with some decent business acumen, sharp accountants and great ideas California is not the business black hole some like to lament.

Yup, and despite all this doom and gloom about California being a **** state to do business, people from all over the country are still flocking here to open up new businesses. Even matching the darling Texas in start-ups. Now why is that if it's so terrible here, or the hive of scum and villainy as you put it?
