    Default ANA training with M24 Sniper Rifles

    5/8/2012 - Marine Scout Snipers from Weapons Company 2nd Battalion 6th Marines, conduct a week long class to sharpen Afghan soldiers' marksmanship with the M24 Sniper Weapon System. The ANA soldiers belong to the 1st Kandak 1st Brigade 215th Corps. The M24 is a bolt-action sniper rifled that is in used by US Army Snipers and is chambered in 7.62x51mm with an effective range of 800 meters.

    I was just thinking, in order to better train and help them understand these fundamentals. It would probably benefit them to train their interpreters almost to the same standard. Now I know that's not really orthodox to train your interpreter to "shoot to kill" but since he's taking what one guy says and putting it into "his own words" might help if he knew how to explain it from personal knowledge as well. Just a thought. I know the reasons why they don't typically arm their interpreters, but I think in this instance it would benefit them.

    But anyway, good training I hope they keep this up.

    I say this again, they should all be given ear protection. We only have 1 pair of ears that once damaged, they cannot be healed with time.

    Not only that, but good hearing protection improves accuracy.
