No kidding, taking care of 200,000 Roman soldiers would also require some reloading of those magazines. I think I would bring at least 35 mags, so I would cut my reloading (magazines) time down. It is important to take a break every so often. It would also be humane, allowing time for the Romans to carry of all of their dead.

Yes but how does a 5.56mm bullet perform in penetrating first a composite shield of metal-reinfored wood and hide and then a layered steel armor backed with leater?

I agree. The Marines are overrated and lazy.

Plus I think the Marines would be too busy to find new boyfriends while there....

Hollis, you'd melt your gat trying to get those 35 mags off, and given the ingenuity of the Romans they`d probably have developed ballistic shields before you had your beachhead in...

Like my grandfather used to say, when the Brits are shooting the Germans keep their heads down, when the Germans are shooting the Brits keep their heads down, when the Yanks are shooting everybody keeps their heads down. So yeah better take a whole lot of ammo

Sounds like a question for the MythBusters. Is that show still on TV?

I agree, except I would take it even further. Humans don't typically keep attacking obliviously like zombies. The possibility for panic and flight has has always been an issue in battle. Huge explosions that turn bodies to chum and fusillades of invisible projectiles that can punch straight through shields at great distances would be terrifying to the Roman infantry. They would have no existing reference point for those things. It would not be long at all before they dropped their sh*t and took to their heels.

Naw, I carried 35 mags before, Like the story of the young bull and the old bull, (pace yourself)

Young bull looks down at the herd and says, "Hey old guy, let's run down and screw a few."

Old bull looks at young bull and says, "Why don't we just walk down and screw them all."

At least as well as it does on a laminated kevlar helmet. That is to say it goes in one side and liquidates the stuff in the middle.

It's just leather and plywood, really, with a little metal dome in the middle, and a strip of metal around the edge. Even a hand-thrown pilum could often pierce one.
