John Cantlie, British Journalist it seems he has at http://fastfeatures.smugmug.com/ a whole bunch of additional Photos or Videos on being Embedded with US Troops in Iraq aswell and some taken from Libya

Interesting Video also, I guess his sort of light hearted mannerisms is a sort of mechanism for dealing with the stress maybe?

    EDIT

That or he just gets a genuine kick out of the adrelanine rush

Im behind the US and NATO when it comes to the war on terror, and I dont mean any disrespectby saying this, but why is it that discipline seems so lacking in US troops sometimes, I dont mean it as in following orders, I just mean self discipline, like it makes me cringe when i see them stand out in the open lookin through their sight, im so surprised that they dont get shot most of the time, how many times have I witnessed a video where there would be a guy standing on the roof of a Humvee looking through his sight, while another guy stands beside him doing the same ,asking where is he looking ? I dont know how everyone here feels about me saying that, and im probably gonna get bashed, but that doesnt change the fact what im pointing out happens more than it should...

I cant tell if its just complatency, or plain disregard for self preservence ?

Dont get me wrong either, im not saying everyone of the troops, does things like stand out in the open, at the end of the day i am a firm believer that there is no military on earth that could withstand the full blunt of the US...but if I see a case of standing in the open in almost every video, it almost gives the impression that its common practice or theres some guy in each squad that doesit...

That's because you're watching videos. You cant see the whole picture because you aren't there. These guys know what they are doing, don't worry about them. Trust me if the rounds were coming in close they wouldn't be standing around looking.

    Great video though.

Im sorry mate but i know exactly whats its like to be in a place where you shouldnt stand around...whether theres cameras around or not you dont make yourself a target.

Did you hear what the two guysearly in the video weresaying, they spotted ****heads on the hill, and they complained to the camera that they wouldnt be allowed fire first, so they are basicallysaying they arewaiting to be engaged, its not like they were in the open because there was no possible threat.

Your answer implies that it takes close rounds for one of them to regard their lives, and the rest of his/her unit.

Of course i worry, if i saw vids of the enemy standing around wathcing americans get set up to shoot at them i wouldnt give a sh1te, but i WILL worry when i see the side i support do it.

I never questioned that they dont know what to do on the field, what im questioning is, when they know something is wrong, and irresplonsible, why do they do it?
