Well, it's a good thing this new story is coming out of the Philippines. If this came from China, the Chicoms would have already be re-claiming Russia by now even before any DNA tests has been taken. That or the DNA test will be a fake.

Don't need no DNA, it was said by the soviets repeatedly that no-one escaped and proved by DNA (by two different top of the line labs one US, one Russian) after the fall when the remains where found.

The same article said there was over 200 pretenders.

Some secrets are better kept secret I guess. She may just be another Anastasia look a like. No need to alarm our Ruskie buddies. . by the way I would like to have a taste of that dark Russian beer. I wonder if it is available nearby....

They are still not really sure about Anastasia, the bones they found in 2007 did belong to Alexei and one young Romanov female, but they could not determine wich one, it could have been Anastasia, but it could as well have been fragments from a body that they found in 1991. It is however very unlikely that she somehow survived the slaughter, since according to the murderers accounts they were shot, stabbed and shot in the head

Yes there are, read the link, they don't agree on which remains are Maria's and which are Anastasia's (the Russian science team thinks the girls in the first grave are Anastasia, Tatiana and Olga and the one in the second is Maria, the American science team think the girls in the first grave are Tatiana, Olga and Maria and the one in the second is Anastasia. But that has to do with anthropology, criminal forensics and witness account, not DNA since they don't have individual profiles).

But they're both sure that all the Romanov's children are dead and accounted for.

Other than a claim for a huge compensation, what would be the consequences of finding an actual Anastasia?

Did the Romanov leave some assets? could there be a claim for "royal" recognition?

Recognition of what? Ineptness and failure? They had an empire and then let it all slip through their lazy and incompetent fingers.

So, now most of their assets are in museums where they belong.

Didn't they prove beyond a doubt that there were no survivers? I watched the National Geographic doco like 4 times by now.

Not far fetched tho.... A Russian Prince once visited the Philippines back in 1800-ish.....But then again its just speculation for the time being.....
