But Clinton moved towards the center and implemented a conservative agenda in terms of welfare reform, a balanced budget, and de-regulation of the banking sector.

Hmmm, seem to remember a certain James Carville but I dont believe he worked for Bush
But he went to bed every night with GOP pundit Mary Matalin.

Well as a Catholic and a probably a liberal (going by most republican definitions of "librul" anyway), I personally wouldn't choose abortion, but it should be an option for those without the same beliefs as me. In short I wouldn't want my opinion to legislate for the nation.

    Seems remarkably simple actually.

One of the biggest problems for third parties is that the two major parties write the election laws at the state level and the 'campaign finance reform' laws at the federal level. These laws are designed to make life very, very difficult for third parties and their candidates.

Another issue historically with success of third parties is it means something has gone catastrophically wrong in our political system

Famously, in the 1860 election, the Democrats split into northern and southern wings, and thus Lincoln was elected with a plurality as opposed to a majority. Of course, the problem was that it was a harbinger of what came soon after.

God knows I would love a third part even though I know that Dem and Repub are big tent parties, but the problem is that it would be a confirmation that things have gone terribly gone

If you do not already believe that things have gone terribly wrong in America, then you are not paying attention.
