Default Five fire deaths: Two arrests in murder probe after dad loses 5 of 17 kids

Not sure if this was covered already...

Two people are being questioned on suspicion of murdering five children in a horrific house fire.
The youngsters, aged between five and 10, died in the inferno despite father Mick Philpott’s desperate attempts to save them.
A sixth child aged 13 was rushed to hospital and was tonight in a specialist burns unit.
Dad-of-17 Mr Philpott, who has appeared on ITV’s Jeremy Kyle Show and Ann Widdecombe Versus the Benefit Culture, lives in the semi-detached house with wife Mairead.
Another woman had also been residing with him but was said to have moved out recently after becoming tired of the love triangle.
The children who died were named as Jade, 10, John, nine, Jack, seven, Jessie, six, and Jayden, five.
A woman, 28, was being held by police today on suspicion of their murder.

The tragedy happened on the same day Mr Philpott, 55, was due in court over a matter thought to relate to custody of his children.
He had previously hit headlines for demanding a larger council house after getting his wife and another woman pregnant at the same time.
He claimed he could not look after the two women and children properly because they are crammed into a three-bed semi.
The council had said the home where he was living was the biggest they had available.
Speaking in the past about his unusual home life, Mick said: “What man wouldn’t want two women?”
This whole story is deranged, 17 kids with different women, not a father to any of them, the "ladies" involved having no concept of responsibility.
Not surprised some insanity like this happened.

RIP to the kids. They didn't get to choose their deadbeat dad.

the sixth young'un who was injured had his life support machine turned off the other day.

newer reports say that all smoke alarms were working. the fire must have taken hold very very quickly.

the original 2 who were held and questioned have been released with out charge (so far) but are in protective custody in a nearby hotel.

He had extensions built onto the house, lean to's on them and was living for at least part of the year in a tent in the back garden.

He was also featured on daytime TV a while back complaining about housing and not having enough room for his kids.

Assuming it was the parents theres a good chance it was an attempt at damaging the house so the local authorities would have to rehouse them in a larger property.
