Well i'd rather have a large "bad" community than a small dying one so not to bad i guess. Still, alot of players compared to when i first started playing![]()
that was my conclusion as well. Arma has the big world for this type of game but not the close combat mechanics or nice controls.
Finding cool loot is a lot of fun - running for hours through forests somewhat not. Getting swarmed by zombies who somehow sensed you through a wall and losing all your stuff sucks.
We should play this game next weekend together - then one can pull the zombies while the other loots or something.
Well in it's current state it's still a mod tied to ArmA. Right now the infected are secretly infantery soldiers forced to pretending to be zombies by external scripts. DayZ uses ArmA's open engine to create their own experience. However when DayZ goes standalone, they can begin to make changes to the engine, without affecting non-DayZ ArmA servers and non-DayZ ArmA players. They can rewrite the AI to be infected, acting like infected, without worrying about regular ArmA missions where special forces, suddently are faced with a face eating insurgency, because DayZ changes accidentally affected the AI.
This also means, that all the loopholes DayZ utilize to run their mod externally, can be closed off and run internally. Since hackers uses ArmA's modability and openness to inject their hacks, a closed off DayZ, will made it harder for them.
Dayzteam also just tweeted, this is the end of the beginning, let the fixing begin.
Could this mean they are going beta or just that summer is ending?
[UPDATE]The end of the beginning.
http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/28904...-the-beginningThat’s right, this is actually happening - DayZ will be developed as a standalone game, with me as project lead, by Bohemia Interactive.

That means it will in fact not be a mod but rather a $20-30 game we would have to buy.
Nope.
Yeps that's what standalone means.
However.
I bought a Mount & Blade game key for $11. The price for keys increased every major update, the finaly release was full price. I even bought the full game, even if I could have used my $11 alpha key, just to show M&B some love. I guess that's what Rocket calls the Mincraft payment model, what he is aspiring to do himself. Buy DayZ standalone early and get a major discount, hold out till it's complete pay $30 or whatever. I got ArmA at release, so I've been clocking free hours on DayZ. Happy to see Rocket becomming lead on DayZ, BI as publisher and some money comming Rocket's way.
Good. Now get this **** out of my ArmA.
just read about standalone. screw that, I want it for free. dropped money for arma because of this mod, only to learn that I am going to have to buy a totally new game.
****s.
Hope the standalone will be good, fixes things wrong with dayz such as the things Fargin mentioned and more. Hopefully it will not be to expensive. Will probably be a sort of arma 2.5 engine than arma 3.

RV4(ArmA3 engine) confirmed for the standalone.
Killed some guy that had L85 AWS, and i died in the battle due to having lower blood than him. went back to my body, and was like 30 sec away from it, then the server restarts...fml
