    Default 6 Days In June

Tomorrow it will be 45 years since Gamal Abdel Nasser (President of Egypt) demanded the United Nations Emergency Force out of the Sinai Peninnsula. This was first step towards the Six Day War which broke out the following month.

It's a good documentary. It answers to many of the questions Shelata rose in different threads.

    You're very welcome.

I think this doco touches on some very interesting subjects such as the USSRs involvment in triggering this war and the disagreements between Eshkol/Ben-Gurion and the military brass.

I myself believe that Dayan got too much credit at Rabin's expense for the war's success.

Mostly at Eshkol's expense. As a MoD Eshkol prepared well the army for war in the previous years it. His reconciliatory attitude was wise and guaranteed US support to Israel after the war. When Dayan entered the gov, everything was ready.
After the war, Dayan was a national hero but so was Rabbin.

    I agree.

Eshkol was a brilliant planner and diplomat.

The main question is whether he could have reached the final desicion of launching a first strike on his own.

    We'll never know.
