Alexander Haig turned out okay though.
Oh I agree, a number of douchebags did indeed attached themselves to MacArthur and by saying "yessir, good idea sir" at every possible moment gain positions they were incompetant for. And Almond is top of that list, his performance in Korea was woeful.
