So goddamned stupid.
“The term ‘Indian Run’ is used to describe the alternating sprint exercises at various levels here at the Academy, and it is widely used among the public,” Gary wrote in the May 14 email. “I hope all can already see the problem with this, but let me be clear, this is a form of stereotyping.”http://freebeacon.com/the-academys-pc-powwow/
I guess they probably won't be playing "smear the queer" either...
Seriously, I always thought that it evolved from Eastern Woodland Indians running single file on narrow trails like in Last of the Mohicans...
They said they couldn't leap frog because frog is offensive to the french
Indians are from India, Native Americans are from the US. What is the problem. Has India made a harsh phone call or facebook post?
Why not name the run after Native American LCdr. Ernest Evans (MOH).
Skipper of the USS Johnston DD-557 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
I do find it rather amusing, considering the history of US and the natives.
It's not an event, it's a type of running exercise very similar to fartlek training. The USNA has bigger problems than using the term Indian run. Whichever of the staffers at Navy said they were offended by the term butndidn't say anything because they wanted to fit in should choke themselves.
This may give Jim Webb a stroke.
