Crazy bodycount, awful for Mexico as a nation.
This will definitely go down in the country's history as a great war.
(Just for perspective purposes, that's half the overall bodycount of the Bosnian war.)
Pretty awful stuff. People need to realize, drugs kill.

RIP to the good guys lost. I pray that mexico's people become more involved in bettering thier country. THey present the most violent front in the war on drugs. Life seems all too cheap.
Unfortunately most of people are very conformist,do not care or do not say anything for fear, "better they than me",other people are so ignorant that support the criminals, the situation is very sad today and Im very sick of all....
God damn...that's really all I can say.
Not that it is a happy situation, but Mexico is a 112 million people country, 50k more or less really don't make a difference, and there are far more dead of diabetes related diseases (about 80,000@year) which IS concerning but nobody cares about because there are no sensational bloody photos of them in the news to feed morbosity. 50,000 IN SIX YEARS? Let me tell you something: according to the UN Brazil had 44,000 murdered people IN ONE YEAR, 2010, which makes their murder per 100,000 rate higher than Mexico's. Are the Brazilians complaining? NO, they say they are "the best country in the world" these days. Are then Brazilians manlier than Mexicans that complain day in and day out about the 50k? I'll let you answer that.
Now as for Americans who raise their eyebrows and go "tsk, tsk" about this so called war: the majority of the weapons that have been confiscated to Mexican criminals were originally bought in Texas and Arizona gunshops. Shouldn't Americans be doing something to restrict gun sales in those places? YES Are they? NO, they say it would "limit their freedom". How convenient.
This whole thing has been made far bigger than it is by the press, especially the Mexican press but Mexico's economy is growing, actually more than the US' is and it is the largest of any Spanish speaking country in he world including Spain, its manufacturing exports are larger than those of all of Latin American countries put together, 22.4 million tourists arrive in Mexico each year, second only to the United States figures in the Americas and 10th of the world's "top ten" of tourism, the number of migrants is at its lowest in 40 years. Mexico's actually a booming country, so don't pity (or criticize) us, we're doing OK, we just have to finish getting rid of those criminals.

Selling to Mexican citizens and straw purchases are already illegal. Lemme repeat, IT'S ALREADY ILLEGAL. Retailers will have their licences pulled/get fined/possible jailtime if they are caught breaking the law. US LAW SAYS THAT YOU GO TO JAIL IF YOU ARE CAUGHT KNOWINGLY SELLING GUNS THAT WALK ACROSS THE BORDER.
What are you assuming the current situation to be? That Mexico passes S/Ns of confiscated firearms to the US and the BATF doesn't follow up on them? That the BATF doesn't question the retailers about who they sold the guns to? Doesn't investigate possible illegal activity related to firearms which is their specific purpose?
50,000 dead in six years. How can you rationalize that number for any reason? You are an animal of some sort.
Now now cowboy, we need facts, not anecdotal evidence. There are not enough straw buyers in the entire USA to provide for the needs of the cartels. Speak complete bullshit on the forum and see where it gets you. Now I see that the death of 50,000 is just something your press is merely hyping up. Yeah, 50,000 dead people in six years. Complete hype. If your economy is so great, then clearly you can raise expenditures to solve this hyped-up, non-existent problem you don't actually seem to be having which is actually the fault of the United States. Lord have mercy. One of those Chinese buggers that periodically raid the forum could not spin shit like this. Not in six years. Not in a million years. You are a genius. If anyone making the decisions in Mexico actually thinks like you, then I expect to hear of 50,000 more dead in the coming six years. If you really waited three years to post this as your first post, you should start a thread to justify Pol Pot. At least be entertaining if you're going to shoot the moon with this apologist nonsense.
Sorry, bullying me with "the power of the forum" won't get you anywhere.
On the "illegality" of selling guns to criminals: some of your own policemen have confessed helping buy the guns that end up in Mexico and some of your own agents have been killed with them, so it happens regardless of. A common saying here is: "it's not fair, the Americans provide the guns and we provide the dead".
But I forgot the main fact: we live right next to the largest and most voracious illegal drug market in the world, the US. While many of your young and your not-so-young are high 24/7 on crack and cocaine we fight the individuals that turn them into useless zombies temporarily or for good, so it's really strange that you guys make such a big deal out of our efforts...unless of course you feel we are trying to deprive you from your pleasures, which I'm sure you aren't (right?).
Thank you again.
