I never felt this certain anarchistic impulse myself, but... fuck the industry.

Years ago I bought the "Lovely" LP by the Primitives and could not stop listening to it , because I paid for it using money my dad gave me for doing my chores around the house.

Years later sombody burgled my folks house when I was at 'varsity and the box with my LP's went with them.

Now if I download these songs that was on those LP's again , does that make me a thief? Seeing I already paid for it...

Yes , even if you only think about it you are guilty of a mindcrime.

The anti-piracy lobby would probably call you a thief, maybe even murder, rapist and pedophile too. You owe them 3 trillion dollars by the way.

Don't worry about the band, it wasn't their money to begin with, but right now a mid level record executive is snorting cheap coke with an ugly hooker in a banged up 2007 limo, because you didn't pay your share.

Just for making me feel bad , he can have my ex sister-in-law. She has her own stash of coke and he will be saving shedloads on ho-cash.

Sorry but I can not help when it comes to the car. Money can't buy style.

So if somebody steals my car, I have the right to go to the dealership and steal the very same model from them. Since I already "own" it

Downloading multimedia content is illegal no mather how you justify it.

The industry is trying to make examples out of anybody whom they get to take to the court.

Their claims of trillion of dollars are ridiculous. However if you look into how they calculated it, it would start to make sense why downloading a $1 song can amount to thousands of dollars.

They don't get you for downloading the song, it's the sharing that will make them go after you.

If you are downloading through torrents, then you know that there can be hundreds of people downloading a part of the song from you.

Each one of these people would be counted as a lost sale/money to the industry.

Multiply the amount of people whom you shared the file with by the sum of money deemed appriopriate for the loss of one sale of that one song and you get damages in the sum of thousnads of dollars.

That being said, like many have said it already, the industry needs to adopt to the present times. If they would be smart they would be making money from digital distribution of their content rather than fighting these court battles.

I also agree that the copyright laws are being pushed to be extended by the industry giants, which is wrong in a whole another level.

While downloading a song may not be equivically the same as going to a music store and stealing a CD, it is steal considered a theft of intelectual property.

You all seem to argue that hardly any money goes to the artists themselves so it's okay if you steal it.

    It's not.

The money required to produce a record CD, advertise it, and promote it with concert tours costs money and is funded by the record labels. They pay for all of that with profits from the CD sales etc. All the people involved in all of these need ot get paid too.

You are all just making a really weak argument justifying your actions.

I don't think there's any need in any copyright laws at all, full stop.

Mine was no justification. Even though the truth , it was for showing the absurdity of it all.

And the car analogy? Not biting.
