Default Bee Gee Robin Gibb dead at 62

WASHINGTON - Bee Gees co-founder Robin Gibb died Sunday after a long battle with cancer, Rolling Stone reports.

    Gibb was 62 years old.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Gibb's spokesperson wrote:

"The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Gibb had successfully battled colon and liver cancer two years ago. Recently, a secondary tumor had developed.

It should be pointed out on a board such as this one that Mr Gibb did a lot of charity work including both for the Royal British Legion and to raise over £5 million to have a permanent memorial erected for the 55,000 men who lost their lives in RAF Bomber Command in World War Two. Unfortunately Mr Gibb passed away just a month before the memorial is due to be unveiled.
