Default Afghan troops complain of feeling second-best

They say M16s are dangerous antiques. Their boots fall apart after a couple of months, they complain, and many of their helmets are cracked and patched. Yet they set out on patrol.

I've seen the gear the ANP is issued. Best piece of kit they receive is probly the Revision ballistic eyewear. Fetched myself a pair

The backpacks they receive is similar to cheap made in china airsoft replicas and their boots are garbage. Probly not something you'd notice when you're high as a kite 24/7 though.

From what little I know, it's a GOOD thing when soldiers complain...much like a Chinook leaking hydraulic fluid all over the place.

The scary part apparently is when the hydraulic fluid STOPS leaking and the soldiers STOP complaining....I think that's the time to brace for impact.

$20 Billions and you couldn't buy a decent boots and backpack, let alone body armors. You've got to be kidding me.

F*ck them, a decade ago they were happy with a wool hat and a pair of sandals. Now they're bitching at us about not giving them enough to defend their own country?

They're opportunists. After the money and blood we've spent over the past decade, we owe them nothing.

X2...You make too much sense James. Now we ought to play Karzai's thank you speech to the American tax payer.

M16s as dangerous antiques? What your black powder/WWI bolt action rifles and ammo buried in the sand were high tech or something?

    You owe them everthing. Because:
    - Your military invaded this country
    - Your military killed a lot of innocent civilians
    - Your military bombed villages
    - Your government installed a new government there
    - Your society changed their society
    - You expect loyality from them
    - You want to implement your way of thinking there
    - You want to sell your weapons, gear and military technology there
    - You want to sell your products there
    - You want to build a pipeline there
    - Your society needs their drugs

Exactly. Because most of the money went lost in dark American and Afghan channels. Too many people took out their part of the money before it reaches the troops on the ground.

I spent four years in that **** hole fighting the Taliban and Al Quaeda to protect my family at home in America. Don't you dare tell me what I owe anyone. I know plenty about how temporary relations are over there.

Yeah well while you were doing that, Kandak bravely spent four years reading the Daily Kos. Who is the hero now? [/sarcasm]
