Meh, no one cares and I hope we don't give them any aide.
Video on BBC.The Maldives are known as an unspoilt, paradise island destination for upmarket tourists but the BBC's Simon Reeve has paid a visit to a part of the Maldives that tourists do not see - a huge island waste dump. He was accompanied by local conservationist Marie Saleem who explained how the country struggles with waste management.
The Maldives' government told the BBC they were looking at ways to tackle their waste problem.
Meh, no one cares and I hope we don't give them any aide.
Looking at the dump, it looks like that quite a lot of the rubbish (like the plastic bottle and cardboard for example) could be diverted to recycling. I guess the question is can they afford to do that. Even contracting it to a company that could recycle it elsewhere.
Yeah, and whats that have to do with me hoping America doesnt help out the Maldives in any way?
Cstafford, have you been following the events on the Maldives lately? Maybe US should offer a helping hand.
Yeah they had a coup/change of leader. Doesn't change the fact that its a backward ass country(in my view)
Yip, but now they seem to embrace investments from China and turn into more hard-line Islam... something that could be prevented perhaps.
From what I gathered the population wants to be hard line.
Maybe pay the Maldives to be a giant rubbish dump.....that way they can earn money while concurrently staying above the rising sea they keep whining about.
Win win.
Wow.....that was a shocker. Did not see this pile of **** when I visited. The maldivians came across as a community which really cared for the environment. Guess they have been sweeping everything under the carpet.
If any country is a candidate for a high-temperature incinerator (with power generation, too) this is it.
