How about the teachers go on strike and let the parents handle their brats?
I only have it in swedish so far but I'll sum it up for you..
Needless to say the teachers union is raising a big stink over it and is calling for the law to be changed.A teacher at a school in northern Sweden grabbed an unruly student and led him out of the class, as they got out in the hallway outside the classroom the student assaulted the teacher with kicks and punches as well as threatening to kill the teacher. The school reported the incident to the police and a trial was just held and the student was found guilty of both the assault and the threats, the court ruled that the crime wasn't to be considered a misdemeanor. However it also ruled that the teacher should not be granted any reparations since a teacher has to be expected to face threats and violence in their role, just as police officers and security guards.
At the same time 30000 out of swedens 140000 teachers claim that they have been victims of illegal threats or violence in their role as teachers.

Ridiculous tree-hugging do-goodery. It's part of a teacher's role to face violence? Bollocks! However it also ruled that the teacher should not be granted any reparations since a teacher has to be expected to face threats and violence in their role
Alas, it sounds awefully familiar to the same irresponsibly honey-coated attitudes that we've dominant here. These are the fruits of "anti-authoritarian education" -- students beating their teachers black and blue. Kids must be shown limits and they must learn to respect authority or they will utterly fail at life.
I've always thought that having security guards and so at schools is a bit overkill but I am about to change my mind unless this ruling is overthrown or the judge goes on national tv and appologize for being high on the job.
Makes me want to move to Sweden.
I can accept this rule for the teachers only if they can administer therapeutic or preemptive tasering.
I had a girlfriend who was a teacher-trainee. She had some abysmal stories to tell even though she taught at a Gymnasium, which is about the prime of Germany's schools. Teachers at lower ranking secondary schools have an even harder time. I hear they often resign early due to burnout.
Massive problem here. Some parents say its not, as do the schools but the teachers say else.
There is a reason why there is a proliferation of private schools. Its because the state sytem is weak.
As an example, just before my mum retired as a state teacher, they had a red card system. If she was getting attacked by a student, she would give the red card to another student to run to the office. While en route, my mother was not allowed to touch the attacking child but had to effectively take the hits or run.
Then, that child would have to sign a behaviour contract (primary school). The thing is, if you were the last school in the district the kid had not been expelled from, you could not expel him "as he/she deserved education".
We are looking at moving my son due to issues at his current school. The school has lost more students, than it can replace, all due to a few kids they are "trying" to help out. Funny thing is, my son has not been attacked, but everyone around him has. All by the same child.
Teachers are compared with police officers and guards? Okay, so let them have the ability to use handguns, batons, handcuffs and other nice things for making students behave well.
I don't know who will grow out of such kids who don't have any moral borders and beat the teachers. And what's most horrible thing - the amount of such kids is rather large.
Very well said.
Hell no! That is just a moronic statement!... since a teacher has to be expected to face threats and violence in their role, just as police officers and security guards.
Only if we have the right to punch back the little POSs (and without going up to the taser or baton, a metallic ruler or board duster "old school style " retaliation would be enough)However it also ruled that the teacher should not be granted any reparations since a teacher has to be expected to face threats and violence in their role, just as police officers and security guards.
