I thought the US government cut a deal with the Afghans who then cut a deal with the Pakistani's that the US would stop these drone strikes.
http://dawn.com/2012/05/24/five-mili...tan-officials/PESHAWAR: A suspected US drone fired two missiles that killed 10 alleged militants in northwest Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region, Pakistani intelligence officials said.
The two officials said Thursday’s attack took place on a militant hideout in Khassokhel village near Mir Ali in North Waziristan. It was the second such attack in 24 hours in the region.
The second attack in as many days. Keep going.
I thought the US government cut a deal with the Afghans who then cut a deal with the Pakistani's that the US would stop these drone strikes.
If I were Pakistan, I'd seriously try to shoot down one of our UAV's, then return the pieces to the US with a sorry note. Not that i'm against the strike at all, but Pakistan needs to either do something or STFU and keep taking our hush money
The Pakistani government is walking a fine line between managing relations with the western coalition in Afghanistan and dealing with the needs and desires of their own population.
You say "If I were Pakistan..." You have your head and your right arm, but if you only do what you want, your left arm and your legs are going to do their own thing.
Then again I wouldn't be surprise if the drone strikes scored more kills than the entire Pakistani Army did within a year. Not to doubt the credibility if the Pakistan's Military, but usually one it comes to a firefight between the Taliban's militant and the Pakistan Military, it's usually the Pakistani who ends up biting the end of the bigger stick.
So if anything, having that drone in the air is what minimizing their casualties.
