This is like the time people wanted to have solicitor calls blocked only to have the solicitors sue because their rights to calling you at dinnertime selling you **** was being violated.

TIVO has had the preview skip feature since at least 2005.

Even prestigious sport events in America ,, can garuntee serious influx of cash alone from advertisers looking to advertise there product during premier sporting occasions .. most notably Superbowl , Indy 500 , World series , PGA ,The Masters , US Open ,,,

Even Some online broadcasting Internet sites are bringin adverts .. to attempt to encourage people subscribing .so people don't suffer havin adverts

Did anyone read Carl Sagan's "Contact"? Theres a character in the book who became a billionaire when he designed the same exact product (the book was written in 70s), he called it Ad-Nix. He also designed a similar product to eliminate preachers and charlatans asking for money for their 'church' on TV, he called it Preach-Nix.

    life imitating art.

I got an idea, regardless of how impractical it might be: There should be a amendment added to the American constitution that gives American citizens the right to skip commercials if they want to.

The fact that BBC shows don't have adverts during show (only between shows) is the best thing ever.

I remember one of the original selling points of pay TV was that were no ads because the client was payng for the service. I fail to see how any media company has a right to use bandwidth paid by me to deliver ads into my receiver, its like am forced to subsidize their business.

BTW the super louds are meant to bee heard from the bathroom, its that not an invasion of privacy?

    OK I will bite.

This society of entitlement is annoying not to mention destructive. You want a decent show and a movie, for relatively cheap money, and you are complaining about the ads? In life you need to have either time or money. If you have neither you are screwed. So if you have the time watch the ads, if you don't want to watch the ads buy the movie or the show. In order for the station to generate enough revenue (because believe it or not, what you pay for cable barely scratches what costs to make the program) it needs to sell ad space. You do not have to watch, or buy for that matter, but you can not ask to pay a margin of the price and have 100% of the benefits. Buy HBO, or the DVD and you will have ad free content.

To clarify, I am not agreeing at all with the lawsuit. I am just as disgusted. i just can't justify the complaining about ads.

So you love ads? And you actually watch them?
Most people just change the channel instead for sitting and watching ads for 5 minutes.
There is no law that forces one to watch them, so skipping them via hardware is absolutely fine too.

You are either confused or have difficulty understanding what is written. Where did you see that I like or watch ads? I do not like ads, and like most folks even if I am watching I am not paying attention or care. However, I know their purpose. They are the neccessary evil, the price I have to pay in order to watch the show I want. I do not hate them or the people that put them in front of me. They make the show I want available. PLUS: what is great about them, is that they are optional. I DO NOT have to watch them. I can get up from my seat, swim a lap around the pool and get back when they are done, and I still get to watch my show. Little price to pay if you ask me

Well then why did you write what you write? People here wish to skip ads, not ban them. And you made it sound as it was the second one.

TV stations need ads/commercials to help fund their station, pay employees, , allowing to stay on the air , broadcast shows, news, , sports for our entertainment.
