Default Breaking: Yitzhar settler shoots Palestinian during clash near Nablus

    LAST UPDATED: 05/26/2012 18:35

Clashes between settlers, Palestinians erupt after settlers set fire to wheat field in W. Bank village of Orif, Palestinians claim; IDF says settler shot and wounded villager during clash.

The settlers involved in this incident are from Yitzhar, where rubber bullets were fired at Palestinians throwing rocks last Saturday.

More details about the incident to come.
I have no sympathy for the settlers of Yitzhar, but I don't believe the reported Palestinian version - that says clashes erupted after the settlers put fire on a field - is incredible for me. The reason: the residents of Yitzhar are religious Jews so they won't light fire in Saturday (Shabbat).

Excuse or not it's their word against that of the Palestinians and neither side are saints.

However I will point out that Palestinians have clear advantage at creating such provocations on a Saturday as the religious settlers can't videotape them.

1/ It's not an excuse because I have no reason to excuse them.
2/ You obviously ignore the religious practices of the population we are speaking about.

Firing a gun obviously doesn't count.

Their religious practices allow them to infract Shabbat only if life is endangered (self defense).

The guy who shot was a guard from the security squad of Yitzhar.
The Palestinian was wounded in the abdomen.

    From the article:

Security forces dispatched to the area were stoned by the settlers. One Border Guard officer suffered mild injuries.
So still claiming that settlers there are innocent lambs who would never do it because its sabbath?

They are not innocent lambs. They are as violent as the Palestinians. They through rocks on the army just like the Palestinian do, and the army has plenty of issues with them. But they don't light fire in Shabbat, so they could not have provoked the clush.

You should watch the film "the promise" a little bit dry at the beginning but getting better every minute. The film pretty much sums everything up.
