Default Most difficult mountain to summit is Baintha Brakk

    Mt. Baintha Brakk

Though Everest is the highest, it's not the most technically challenging especially since they now have seasoned guides and ladders pre-installed.

It's height is 7,285 meters (23,901 ft) high and there have only been 2 successful summits of the mountain.

Looks a little daunting to me.

I dont agree. K2 is way more difficult. Ogre is one of the most hard but not THE most hard.

How many have tried the Ogre? The K2 have just 300+ people who summited it, while thousands tried. Its just a little lower than the Everest, yet its technically challenging. For instance there are a lot of 7000's not climbed yet in the Himalaya, and that doesn't make them the hardest. The fact that Doug Scott tried and founded it very hard made the story. For instance the Annapurna is the mountain that killed the most climbers per summits.

For some reason allways thought of Cerro Torre in Patagoina as the hardest. I last heard that two Aussies were trying to free climb the 'italian bolt route' only using the bolts for belays/bivi's. Didnt hear if they made it or not.

    Manly as f*ck climbing though.

One out of 4 dies trying to summit K2. Almost as high as Mt. Everest but the last 1,000 meters are just hell (crossing the bottleneck...).

I would love to check out K2 on a trek.....but climbing it sounds crazy...unless I were a world class climber with the fitness to match I wouldn't even think about it....and even then I can't imagine how people risk it with families at home.

I'd much rather do a map and aerial recce of a decent sized unnamed and unclimbed mountain that looks achievable and give that a crack with an experienced guide and a good team.

I'd rather be first up something achievable(or even easy for some) than dead on something crazy.

I think mountain climbers are a bit nuts..... I scramble a minor peak or ridge now and then in the Idaho Sawtooths, but nothing that requires gear. A friend of mine does though... Nein Danke! Heck, just going up the steeple on the Ulm Cathedral gave me the wiggins....

Yeah....but I've got to find one that will not kill me first.

I've still got my climbing training wheels on.
