Lightbulb Lithuanian forces move to Vilnius

    After talks in Moscow
on October 10, 1939 the city and its surrounding areas were transferred to Lithuania according to theSoviet-Lithuanian Mutual Assistance Treaty . In exchange Lithuania agreed to allow Soviet military bases to be established in strategic parts of the country. While the Lithuanian government attempted to refuse these demands, the Russians left them no choice as their troops would enter the country anyway.
