    Hi C.puffs.
Driving over the limit is already illegal, and repeat offenders get dealt with. And it's not that speeders are a danger to other people as well as themselves, an epidemic of sick people will also impact medical care for everyone. Looking forward to queue for care?, and said care will "competitively priced" for the current environment etc.
I've got no answer on the overconsumption problem, but reducing the amount of sugar these people can glug sounds good.

From what the ban looks like: large bottles can still be sold in supermarkets and convenience store, and refills would still be allowed in restaurants (the cups would just be smaller). Portions have lately been getting ridiculous as well. At the same time, it does reek a bit of nanny government poke its nose in the wrong direction; I a firm believer that increasing exersize programs at the young level works better than bans such as this.
    Eh... neutral on the issue.

I agree with banning shark-fin soup due to the sheer wasteful nature (is it really so hard to take the time to butcher the entire animal?) and ecological impact of it for scientifically unsubstantiated reasons (the rarer the creature, the more virility it will give you).

However, get your hands off my baby cow Parmesan and seared fattened duck liver. Conditions could be improved without outright banning it.

Why is smoking "one thing"? Regular use of free refills of highly sugared drinks is definitely cutting your life shorter, probably more so than smoking. You can easily get 80 years old as a smoker, not as a diabetic fatso.

The question is if people can think for themselves. Would you think free tobacco for a pub night is a good offer?

The Mayor seems to be crazed with power hunger. He is going too far with this.

Yes but other people don't get passively hydrated, do they? I think it's up to people. If you want to be a fat fack, then it's your choice.

As an European I think we sometimes try to protect citizens too much! I can come up with million things that are bad for you and could be banned just because I can show statistically that they decrease your life expectancy and increase health care expenditure. From motorcycling to mountaineering and from red meat to alcohol. Educating citizens on the dangers of the product should be a major concern for the governments , after that limiting marketing, protection tax, fines for a company if there is foul play and so forth. Banning something should be used as last resort and used only in case of dangerous goods like heroin etc..

Do you really want live in a country where some pitiful office rat will decide what's good for you? I don't and I'm willing to and I do carry extra tax burden that comes with a giving people freedom to make bad decisions.

My Grandfather was 96 when he died. He weighed 147 pounds, he was not Diabetic, and he loved Cigars, Whiskey(better part of a pint a day), Cokes( drank 12 a day ), Steaks, and Suzy-Q's. He stoked Coal on ships in WWI, then worked the rail road until 1963.

Turn off the fvcking X-Boxs, stop playing WoW and go otside and see the grass and sun. go to a park ride a Bike or walk around and you wont get obese. be a zombie in front of a laptop all day, expect bad things.

I believe there is no need for Soda or energy drinks larger than 16 oz in any society. If I had it my way, I would ban soda and fast food but I have to be more realistic. Soda does nothing for us and it hurts society as a whole.

We don't like it when people try to tell us how to eat or drink. It's called a choice.

Of course. Then again having that free choice should not cause problems or hindrance to other people.
