Way to go DC comics......nice way to kill a comic after a horrible movie. Stop forcing the gay agenda on kids. Shoving it down the throats of people is not exactly the way to endear the population to your cause.
I've got no issues with Muslim superheroes, my issue with this is that the whole gay Green Lantern is an attention grab. A way to hopefully a temporary bump in sales, until they can figure out something else (like the standard, let's kill off a character, only to bring him back a few months later).
"Hey guys sales are starting to tapper of, what can we do."
"I know, lets announce that one of our characters is gay, it'll play great in the media, drum up some publicity."
"Sounds great, get somebody on that ****to."

I also have no problem with Muslim superheroes, but a Muslim superhero in a wheelchair and a gay Green Lantern are blatant PC pandering. I do have a big problem with relentless, pervasive political correctness everywhere in every nook and corner of our lives. There is no escaping it. It is just too much. It needs to stop.
my question is this , will straight guys now buy or be a fan of a comic book character who is gay now? i would think not but not really knowing anything about comic books i am not sure
DC already has or had a number of gay characters (this is where my comic book geek comes out). Before last year's "reboot" Alan Scott, the character they're reintroducing, had two adult children, Jade and Obsidian (who was gay), and it never seemed to be an issue. DC also owned Wildstorm Comics, who's characters have now been integrated into the main DC books, and two of the main characters (Apollo and Midnighter), in one of their more popular books, (The Authority), were not only gay, but are lovers. Both characters have now be rolled into the main DC universe.
DC also had out of its way to introduce a LOT of lesbian and bi-****** female characters. Batwoman is a lesbian, her lover was the new Question (the had the old character die from cancer), they had Black Lightning's daughter (Thunder), become lovers with Grace, a fellow female team member. And I could go on.
I was angry for a second, then saw it was only Earth 2... who the fvck cares.
This is just a cheap stunt to be more PC or pull in more gay comic readers. Now they are going to be pissed because they are only getting a B team gay hero. Boohoo.
He is only in one "team book." It's a JSA comic. Not a Green Lantern solo story. As of now I think it is the only comic in Earth 2. Although, Robin (female one-Huntress) AND Supergirl (Power Girl) from Earth 2 have come to the regular DCnU and are trapped there. BTW, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are dead in this world.
And Al Pratt, who becomes the JSA s' Atom, is a kickass Army, infantry soldier. He is a short guy and has no powers. Alan Scott has no powers yet and Flash just recieved his, from the dying god Mercury (Wonder Woman connection?)
We don't know about the rest yet. Only one issue has come out so far.
Young Avengers is pretty popular and had two gay superheroes. Runaways was an awesome comic (what the hell happened to it; it seemed to drop off the face of the earth mid-cliffhanger) that had lesbian characters. Besides Northstar, X-men has Anole who is gay. X-facor has Rictor and Shatterstar, who are bi****** (though Shatterstar seems to be more of an "anything that moves"-type character).
Don't know much from the DC side, but Dom seems to bring up a few characters.
In the end, all of the characters I mentioned (except Northstar) range from very to decently popular, not much of big deal is made about their ******ity itself (except maybe in-universe), and all in all, the good chunk of comic book fans don't have a problem with it (though there are a few that do); if they did, those comics wouldn't still be published and those characters wouldn't be featured.
As mentioned, this is all (extremely unnecessary) pandering that has been recognized as such by comic book fans, and is met mostly with shrugs of indifference.
