Default Feds order Florida to halt ongoing push to remove ineligible voters from rolls

TALLAHASSEE, Fla – Federal authorities are demanding that Florida halt its push to remove ineligible voters from the voter rolls.

In a move that comes just months before the state could play a pivotal role in the 2012 presidential election, the U.S. Department of Justice contends that the state is violating federal law in its effort to identify and remove ineligible voters.

...Florida, at the urging of Republican Gov. Rick Scott, began looking for non-U.S. citizens on its voter rolls last year. An initial search turned up as many as 182,000 registered voters who may not be U.S. citizens.

"Who MAY not be U.S. citizens".

So, we remove them, don't let them vote, and than figure it all out, right? Is that how it goes. Kinda like 2000?

And how the **** did they figure out that they MAY not be U.S. citizens? By their name? If they don't know if they are citizens or not, why not establish it first?
Another "Don't let the darkies vote" attempt. The south has risen again.

    From WUSF

"To me, it's like an insult," he says. "They sent me a form to fill out. And I filled out the form and I sent it back to them with a copy of my discharge paper and a copy of my tour of duty in the ETO, which is the European Theater of Operations."

Internicola's was one of more than 180,000 names Florida's secretary of state identified from motor vehicle records as possible noncitizens.

Easy? REally? You can just tell if somebody is a U.S. citizen by their driver's license? How do you do that? If the state accuses people of inpropriety, it's up to the state to prove so. They are innocent, until the state BEYOND ANY DOUBT proves them guilty. Until then, it's just another attempt by the right to limit access to voting for minorities.

    From WUSF article cited above

Internicola's was one of more than 180,000 names Florida's secretary of state identified from motor vehicle records as possible noncitizens. Several weeks ago, the secretary's office sent county elections supervisors a first batch of some 2,600 names. County officials, who are also preparing for the state's August primary, started sending out letters to suspected noncitizens, saying they had 30 days to prove their citizenship or be removed from the voting rolls.

so I guess they are supposed to do nothing then. Just accept that there is likely thousands of names of non-citizens on the rolls. THAT apparently does not matter to anyone. What matters is that the state is asking a handful of people to verify their status. Jesus this country is so pussified...or...people want these non-citizens to vote.

they sent 2,600 so far...how many were they wrong about? 1 that we know of. Even if there is 100 that they were wrong about it would still be a success rate of 96%.

Crying because you have to prove you have the right to vote? What a joke. Do that whine the next time you try to buy smokes and see how far it gets you.

How about this novel concept. You prove that they are illegal. You don't make THEM prove innoncence, but the state proves that they are guilty. Just a though.

How about we change our laws. You're guilty as charged until you can prove otherwise. That's good.

    hyperbole?

how do propose the state prove the legal status?

maybe I should tell Homeland security that they need to prove I am citizen, I don't need to show them my passport
