US urges China to free Tiananmen Square activists
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-18317793
wth is going on lately? Something is up, but undercurrent atmThe US government has urged China to free all those still in prison 23 years after Beijing's 1989 crackdown against protesters in Tiananmen Square.
The US state department message also called on China to "provide a full public accounting of those killed, detained or missing".
I'm surprised its only 60%, unless the 40% left in the rest of the world is MCM/PC and escort heavy for show the flag missions etc
This really does not mean much. First of all, the U.S. already has 50% of her navy in the Pacific fleet. With a 15% or so budget cut, it's back to square one in a short time. China will likely build up 3-5 carrier strike groups in the next 10 years, regardless of U.S.' move.
I am sure the Chinese will threaten to not loan us anymore cash. That'll shut the US up.
"...Haney cited as an example the Littoral Combat Ship which can operate in shallower waters than other vessels..."
But wait there's more!
"...The EA-18G plane -- which can jam enemy air defenses and fly faster than the speed of sound -- is another. Haney said squadrons of these aircraft would be coming through the region..."
Squadrons of Growlers? Really?
^^^ weird, I tell you.
From the title, I was expecting them to say that F-22s were being deployed to Guam or Japan.
