I think I speak for many when I say I have an incredible amount of respect for her as a person, and I believe she has been a strong asset to our country at home and abroad for the past 60 years.
I am gutted that I am outside the UK at the moment, Would love to join in with all the patriotic fun.
Must say though I was a bit disappointed with the folks at Epsom who did not stand for the anthem, I hardly like the song itself but at least show some respect.

Unless there was a law specifically barring a female from taking the throne (which in some cultures/nations is the case), it is completely by direct blood lineage who gets to take the mantle of monarch. Being the the direct descendant matters more than whether you have a X or Y chromosome.
In the case of the husband, he is not labeled "King" but "Prince-Consort".
