At least it's more entertaining than your regular Greek-Turk love fest.

My friend even if we get very very poor we won't reach the levels of 2001-2004 turkey... You still have poverty but at least you've started to create a middle class!!!! Erdogan should have a huge statue for that! (i wish we had a pm like him...).

As for the trolling "Still better than living rich on other countries tax payers money" you tend to forget your country got up from the ground using IMF funds. You tend to forget all USA loans so they could stage their army in south turkey in 2003. Don't go trolling on me please... you have nothing to prove.

And are we still living off IMF funds? God damn, must be doing something right eh? I'm not out to prove anything, this is a thread where discussion is open so naturally I'll discuss. You seemed to have missed my point, however. Turkey didn't get IMF funds because it lived beyond its needs, and went down the toilet in the process.

You don't live any more since a decade passed away. in 2022 i don't think greece will still live from imf funds.

No you did not get money because you live beyond your needs - by far the opposite: you 've got the money cause in 2000 you had one of the largest and well equipped military in the world, a huge corrupted state and a rilling party that worked like mafia.
What is difference form greece in 2009? Just add the olympic games (11billE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and remove the huge army.

There are very little differences on how both our countries got bankrupted. i just hope we' ll have an erdogan to bail us out as you did.

"I am not saying that we have to fight with Turks by weapons. However, we should not forget that Hellenism existed in Anatolia, Pontus and Thrace for centuries."
Sounds more like a misunderstood comment made a controversial person situation.

Plus, Constantinople was more a Roman thing than a Greek thing and the Turks conquered it fair and square.

    Greeks = Romans after 212AD
It was the national name still in 19th century and changed to Hellenes after creating the new greek state. You can get more info on greek national names here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_Greeks

    Fair and square indeed.

Turkey isn't better off than Greece currently.

Turkey's nominal per capita GDP is only $10,500
And even its PPP per capita GDP is only $14, 500

Turkey is a poor country. Even Greece will take a few more years (probably another 5 years) of recession before they get as poor as Turkey.

Turkey has been a country with huge poverty since its birth, but it does not live outside its means unlike Greece. Thats the point I'm trying to make, but it appears you gents can't get what I'm saying in your heads. I never denied that the majority of Turkey made very little money, all I said was Greece lived beyond its means, which is very obvious if you look at something called the news once in a while. If Greece lived within its means, it would be no different than Turkey.

i can see how you combine all this trolling together but:

    1. we are in the same position with ireland, portugal, spain. These countries stayed away from WW2 (10% dead, complete economical disaster), and they did NOT have turkey as an opponent the last 40 years! That means no 2-3 year conscription, no 500 planes, no 2200 tanks etc.
At the same time we ve build a middle class worthy of any north west european state. the greek middle class is 90% of the population, has a university degree, speaks at least 1 foreign language, has a house, a car, a country house etc
As much we hate our politicians we are damn PROUD of what we have done.

    2. turkey you claim lived inside its needs. So why take an imf loan ten years ago? Why after 100 years without WAR, without external enemies, with TOTAL USA support you are not like france or UK?
    I ll tell you why:
    a. enormous spending in military equal to 1980s israel
    b. NO middle class.
    c. absolutely no production for more that 80 years.
These practices leftovers from the ottoman empire still haunted you until Erdogan arrived. The man had a dream, he is fulfilling it and you all should be MORE proud about him than any other turk dead or alive.
Until this guy came you were practical a third work banana state. So please leave the tutoring to someone else stop the propaganda "greece did that greece did this" Pray Erdogan to live another 10 years as to see how democratic free and prosperous a real middle class can be. That moment there you will find a new best friend to your west

@Piano even if we get down to 5,000 we will be in a better case than turkey since the 10,000 go mostly to the ruling upper-military-industrial class. Even halving my income i will still have a house a car and my children will still go to uni - my father lived like that!
People that will be hurt are the same ones that find it difficult today: state workers that took 300,000E in loans and idiots that discovered they have to work at their 30st birthday having a mathematics or gymnastics diploma.
