Default French Warship De Grasse on Way to Russia for Naval Drills

French anti-submarine frigate, the De Grasse, will dock on Monday at the port of Severomorsk, in Russia’s northern Murmansk Region, for a five-day official visit and joint naval drills, said Capt. 2nd Rank Yevgeny Kirillov, a spokesman for the Russian Northern Fleet.
“The De Grass frigate will pay an official visit between June 11 and 15 to Severomorsk, which is the main naval base of the Northern Fleet. The visit will be concluded by bilateral Russian-French drills called PASSEX,” Kirillov said.
The naval drills, he said, will be hold only for a one day on June 15 in the Kola Bay and in the Barents Sea as part of the cooperation development between the Russian and French naval forces.
Two years ago Russia and France held PASSEX exercise, when Russia’s Pyotr Veliky nuclear-powered guided-missile cruiser called at the port of Brest in France for a four-day official visit.

This will be one of the last international drills for the De Grasse, it will be decommissioned next year and replaced by the new Aquitaine (FREMM class) frigate.
