I'm still not quite sure why certain governments think this is Canadas' business? It is starting to sound even more serious though if the Germans and the French seem to be (I know this is going to piss people off but) begging for money. At least that is what it looks like. Very depressing.

It's a nice feel-good "we ain't giving you money" statement that helps only to appease voters.

Reality is that Canada will pay sooner or later. Pressure will be too high.

You can't benefit from the system and at the same time pledge to not get involved with it.

As a german I have to admit this is true:

“This Prime Minister will not force hard-working Canadian taxpayers to bail out sumptuous euro welfare-state countries and the wealthy bankers that lend to them,” he said

Are you saying the europeans will stop trading with Canada if Canadians refuse to bailout Europe?

    My first thoughts as well.

One would think they would be paying closer attention to what Mr. Harper has been saying for months. Really, its all he talks about, and for his many faults - economics really seems to be his strength. For the PM of the only G8 country whose books are in order, there is no right to demand anything of him.

Sounds a bit populistic from Harper. Especially since he shows sympathy to Mr Holland. A man who tries to send Frances credit rating down the river.
My guess is that Mr Hollande want the IMF out of game because Sarkos former iron lady is the head of it.
The IMF was always a tool to create more pressure. The idea was to have a non-European organisation on board.

    Very glad to hear this.

Yeah, greece decided to lower its retirement age for many to 55 for men, and 50 for women at a time when it is going(gone?) bankrupt. Completely absurd.

Arrow Europe to Canada: Don't lecture us

Harper tight-lipped about Canada's bid to join Pacific trade talks
