What is the blue box thing ? some kind of timing device ?
I cant believe that this is a military photos website and the 'blue box' has not been correctly identified still after 4 replies?

Its a simple timer used on a shooting range for timed competitions, it beeps once at random to start the event and it 'listens' for your shots, as you progress through the event shooting at targets it records the time of your 'last' shot, so when you have in fact fired your last shot for the event, then the time on the screen is your time for the event.
