(CNN) -- German police have released a photograph of the 17-year-old known only as "Ray" who turned up at Berlin City Hall last year after claiming to have been living in the woods for five years. The release of the photograph, along with details of his appearance and scant possessions at the time of his discovery, is part of an effort by German authorities to unravel the mysterious identity of the boy who speaks English and a little German and what is his family background.
The boy only knew his name, his date of birth of June 20, 1994, and his parents' first names.
After months of investigation, German authorities said they are stumped on who the boy really is.
The boy named Ray told authorities upon his discovery last September that he had been living in the woods with his father, Ryan, but decided to come out of the wilderness after his father had died, investigators said. The boy couldn't explain why his father died, authorities said.

Dad died, don't really know who I really am, living secluded in the forest like a male version of Hanna? Better drink my own piss...
From the picture, I'd presume he is older. Maybe in the early twenties.
Couild it be...
He is fake. He has brand new clothes and bags with him, so his story about him living in forest for years is considered to be fake. Most probably he has some psychological problems.
Forest Boy finally identified and admits: 'I made it all up'
He is Robin Van Helsum, a 20-year old from Hengelo in the Netherlands who was reported missing by his family last September, just days before he turned up in Berlin with his incredible story."It seems he came straight from his home town to Berlin by train and wanted a new life. He didn't go anywhere near a forest."http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...it-all-up.htmlPolice say he may now face charges of fraud. "He has been looked after by German authorities since September. He received money, clothes, housing and education and all because he told us lies. There may well be a case of fraud."
Reports said his care cost German taxpayers around £5,000 a month.
They could have found out faster if they would not have waited for 9 months to release the damn photo while spending for his assisted living etc in Berlin plus the 9 month long investigation... -.-
Indeed a fake.
